Cantina "Tio Pepe"
If you’re a fan of the Beat Generation authors, come here for a tequila in William Burrough’s honor. The author enjoyed drinking in this cantina, and references it in Junkie. If you’re not into the Beats, there’s plenty of other history here: El Tio Pepe holds the honor of oldest cantina in Mexico City, and has been open since 1890. It’s touristy now, but you should still stop in. The stained glass over the bar and the heavy wooden classic cantina doors are beautiful. Don’t expect food, but do expect a solid tequila list. Choose one and order it con sangrita, the spicy and savory tomato juice-based chaser. #cantina #mexicocity #drinking #solofemaletraveler
