The National Museum of Mongolia is the one museum you should go if you want to understand the country where you are. Modern and all translated in english, it explains the history, culture and ethnology of the country. The whole history of Genghis Khan's empire is explained there. You can see ancient artefacts, traditional clothes from all the ethnic groups living in Mongolia, some gers (mongolian yurts - traditionnal nomads' home) and prehistorical items. The last floor is showing the country's recent history, with the Mongolians' fight for freedom and democracy, the social and political movements of the 50 past years. Very interesting museum.
