Western Old Art Museum Dumitru Furnică Minovici
Situated right behind the Villa Minovici Museum, the Western Old Art Museum is housed in a historic house built in the neo-Gothic English style (called the Tudor style) and has Normand influences as well. The story of this place started when its owner, the engineer Furnica-Minovici started to build a house to display his personal art collection. None of the art objects in the house are from Romania and therefore you will have the feeling you visit a museum from Italy or England. The collection is composed of medieval and modern guns, Austrian stained glass, then German, Swiss, and Dutch upholstery, Austrian and Italian furniture, as well as countless paintings of Italian, German, and Dutch artists. Soon after the house was completed in 1942, Minovici donated it to the Romanian Academy in 1945 and thus it became part of the capital's art museums. #romania #bucharest #museum
