Speke's Camp
#views #wildlife #sightseeing #safari #camping The flying camp experience offered by Speke’s camp is purely done in Loita Forest, by Loita Maasai guides. Their unorthodox style is way out of the comfort zone of anyone, except the adventurous type. This is actually a walking safari with several stops along the way. The trails are long and strenuous, walking for up to 6 hours a day with a lunch break, which requires physical fitness at the very least. But the rewards are worthy – you will be treated to different landscapes with the increase in altitude. The good news is that a donkey caravan ferries all the camping necessities including your luggage. The fly campsites are identified on the go, some which require clearing before setup, where a large African Bell Tent or Dome Tent and a ‘mess tent’ will be erected. The tent is comfortable and warmly furnished with a bedroll made of mattress, pillows, sheets, duvet and a hot water bottle. The caravan will always be ahead of you, hence upon arrival at the site, you will always find a bonfire, your sleeping tent and the kitchen all set up.
