Channel Islands National Park
A must-do during your time in Los Angeles is Channel Islands National Park. Located an hour outside LA, this is one of the most Instagrammable places you can come across yet. Imagine being swifted away from the mainland to an hour-long excursion on a boat to one of the 7 islands. As you arrive, you’re greeted by the island rangers who give you the scope of the islands and safety precautions and tips before you’re off on your own adventure. The most popular islands to visit are Santa Cruz Island, Santa Rosa Island, Catalina Island, Santa Barbara Island, Anacapa and San Miguel Island. It’s best to plan ahead as boat excursions fill up quickly and are the only means of transportation to and from the islands. Book in advance to schedule a day trip or camp overnight to really experience island life camping. The Channel Islands feature otherworldly views of the Pacific Ocean and the California coastline. You can kayak in the ocean, go swimming and hike up the many trails there are to offer. Make sure to pack plenty of water and food as there are no services on the island. You’ll be sure to find plenty of picnic spots to enjoy a wonderful meal after a day full of adventure. Plan ahead and plan to arrive early as the Channel Islands tend to book up fairly quickly months in advance. It’s worth the scenic views and the experience is one-in-a-lifetime. #photography #hiking #mountains #camping #climbing #channelislands
