Known to locals as Shaguoju, this old school restaurant dates all the way back to 1741 and is most famous for serving up braised stew in old-school style yellow clay pots. In fact, “shaguo” translates to sand pot. The most famous dish is “white meat in sand pot” with thin slices of braised bacon laid on a bed of sour cabbage and vermicelli noodles. Don’t be fooled by all the fat—the pork slices aren’t greasy or chewy and are tender and melt in your mouth.
