Casserole Pot Restaurant
Known to locals as Shaguoju, this old school restaurant dates all the way back to 1741 and is most famous for serving up braised stew in old-school style yellow clay pots. In fact, “shaguo” translates to sand pot. The most famous dish is “white meat in sand pot” with thin slices of braised bacon laid on a bed of sour cabbage and vermicelli noodles. Don’t be fooled by all the fat—the pork slices aren’t greasy or chewy and are tender and melt in your mouth. The restaurant also serves other stews in clay pots, as well as other popular Chinese dishes. #dinner #tradition #food
