National Archaeological Museum
This massive repository of all things Greek can really feel overwhelming at times. The range of items on display, from the staggering gold wealth of Mycenae to the colorful frescos of the Minoans to the sweetly painted pottery depicting frolicking dolphins, is all worth a pretty serious chunk of your time in Athens. Especially moving are the individual classical grave stele, each one relating the story of a loved one lost, often in very emotional scenes and some of which were discovered at the actual site of the museum.
