Terry Fox Mile 0 Site
If you’re ever in St John’s you’ll most likely spend some time on Water St., take 5-10 minutes and visit the Terry Fox Memorial.
Running across Canada, Terry Fox set out on The Marathon of Hope running a marathon every day starting in April of 1980 a few years after having a leg amputated due to cancer. The Marathon of Hope was his effort to raise one dollar for every Canadian. Sadly he succumbed to cancer just outside of Thunder Bay after 5373 kms of his 8000 kilometre journey.
The man was an inspiration and as a distance runner it just reached into my runner’s soul. #statue #monument #terryfox #terryfoxmemorial
