Merv was a major oasis city in Central Asia on the Silk Toad. Inhabited as early as the 3rd millennium BC, and was destroyed by Ganghis Khan’s son and the Mongols in AD 1221. The ruin comprise at least five ancient settlements and is now on the list of the World Legacy of UNESCO as a well preserved ancient center of the Great Silk Road. # Turkmenistan #silkroad
