Monserrate
The Monserrate is one of Bogota’s most prominent features, and the cathedral can be seen throughout the city. The Monserrate is a whitewashed cathedral situated on top of one of the eastern mountains. This has been a sacred place in the city for hundreds of years, with the cathedral, gardens, and restaurants attracting visitors from all over Colombia and throughout the world.
The top of the Monserrate can be reached by a cable car or via the Pilgrim walk. The majority of visitors take the cable car to the top of the mountains but the walk is well worth the effort. The hike is a trail made with stone steps and is open every day except Tuesday from 4 am to 1 pm. On Sundays, the hike will be very crowded with people walking up to visit the cathedral for a service. #views #mountains #hike
