You don’t need to be a devoted numismatist to enjoy the self guided tour at the US Mint. Pass through several riveting displays about the history of money-making, take in the marvelous Tiffany mosaics created for the opening of the previous mint and then hit the coinage floor to watch how all those nickels, dimes and quarters are actually made. It’s all quite fascinating and children especially will probably really get a kick out of it. Make sure to check out the gift shop before you leave, there’s some very cool stuff there.
