Castello di Verrazzano
North of Greve, this hilltop castle was once home to Giovanni da Verrazzano. Its high position was a strategic decision made centuries ago in order to have an advantage of better views of potential threats from above. The castle has undergone many changes over the centuries but now is a certified organic winery. They still use the ancient traditional way of winemaking which uses the top Sangiovese grapes. These high-quality grapes produce a full-bodied flavor of red fruit aromas and subtle notes of black pepper and wood. A guided tour can take you through the Castle’s garden and aging cellars, ending you with a private dinner served in the Hysteria of the winery. The experience includes gastronomic specialties prepared with ingredients from the Tuscan countryside. #italy #wine #castles
