Magical Tours Chile does day trips to Humberstone and Santa Laura, old saltpeter ghost towns. They are both fascinating--and well worth seeing. Some of the trips go in the late afternoon so you can catch the sunset, while others are combined with other sightseeing stops--all worthwhile, in my opinion. In general, the area surrounding Iquique has a lot more to do than one might expect. If you're planning a trip there, definitely plan to spend a least a few extra days visiting nearby areas.
