Confession: despite my love of travel, I'm not a big fan of museums. But an outdoor open air museum tucked within the Dumbrava Forest in Transylvania? I could get into that, and that I did at the ASTRA Museum just outside of Sibiu, Romania. A simple 25 minute bus ride will take you back centuries as you meander from "village" to "village", experiencing what life was like for the Romanian farmer, fisherman, child, baker, etc. Tip: go off season. It's cheaper (dirt cheap, like 50 cents), you'll have the place nearly to yourself, and you avoid the cheesy summer tourism gimmicks. #history #Romania #folklore
