Alabama Hills
I can't believe this place isn't on here yet. Probably the most iconic playground in the Eastern Sierra, the Alabama Hills is an area full of sandstone boulders (much like Joshua tree) at the foot of the tallest mountains in the lower 48. In fact you'll drive through here to get to Whitney Portal, the trailhead for Mt Whitney. Plenty of dirt roads to wander down and it is definitely a climbing and boudering Mecca. Though I do neither I still find the area amazing. The dry sandstone desert boulders set against the glacier covered sierras is a sight to behold. #hiking #extreme #camping
