This is one of the coolest hostels we stayed at in New Zealand. The communal meals are delicious, the compost showers are amazing, the bicycle-washing-machine gives you clean clothes and a workout, and the fire bath is killer. Just be sure to not follow your GPS when trying to find this place -- you'll end up on a Stand By Me adventure across train tracks and over ditches. There are much simpler directions from their Facebook page. It's also a WWOOFing spot for those looking for work exchange.
