Narodni muzej Slovenije
There are more than a few show-stopping items in this impressive and comprehensive museum, which covers the whole gamut of Slovenian history and then some. You’ll find ancient bronze artifacts, a majestic collection of helmets and arms, allegorical frescos, a magnificent lapidarium and a fascinating Egyptian Room. But the most moving object in the entire collection is an initially unimpressive one, a piece of a bear femur that was carved into a simple flute by a long ago Neanderthal and is possibly the oldest musical instrument in the world.
