The beautiful Chapursan valley is a good spot to hike. Between China, Afghanistan and Tadjikistan, the Pamir mountains are a place to wander for days if not months. You can get there from the town of Sost, where you can find shared jeeps to the many villages around. Locals are very hospitalitable there and will find a place for you to stay and some food to give you. You can also organize 'women only trekking' there.
