The Great Pyramid of Giza
At the “still point of the turning world” stands the Giza Plateau’s resurrection machine. No monument of man’s ingenuity has ever had such a visceral physiological impact on me. The Sound & Light Show is another must-see from the vantage of the Great Sphinx - pack a warm jacket because it gets cold out in the desert. For some perspective visit Saqqara Step Pyramid (Pyramid of Djoser) and the Cairo Museum, which according to our tour guide this is arguably one of the best places to journey into ancient Egyptian history. We were lucky to take photos inside the museum (concession by the Ministry of Antiquities) which included remnants of the famed boy king, Tutankhamun. While in the city also explore Coptic Cairo with many spots visited by the Holy Family (Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus) when they fled as refugees from the murderous arm of King Herod. #pyramids #giza #sphinx #ancientegypt #egypt #cairo #cairomuseum #copticcairo #desert #travel #wanderlust #curioushumanics
