Alesund is developed around a historic center characterized by Art Nouveau. Walking through the streets it is impossible not to stop in front of some buildings to observe their essential architectural but elegant lines. The peripheral part of the city is certainly interesting, if you are looking for landscapes on the sea or exciting sunsets. This on water city surely deserves to be visited entirely from its streets but it offers also boat excursions to the Norwegian Sea to reach the outer islands, including Runde Island, a poultry oasis where you can meet hundreds of birds of various species that gather here to nest.
