‘Appeltaart’ is another really popular dessert in Amsterdam aside from poffertjes. It differs from other well known varieties like North American apple pie as it is almost like a cake than a thin pastry crust. Inside is a warm gooey layer of apples, raisins, spices and sometimes liqueur. Most cafes, bakeries and restaurants will have apple pie on the menu.
