The accommodations are modest but the views are breathtaking from the top of the Chena Dome, which we reached in an ATV from Chena Hot Springs Resort. Our driver and guide carried a pistol (you know, just in case of bears) as we raced up the dirt path. We didn’t see any bears, but there was a lightning storm circling the dome and casting some of the most beautiful light I’ve ever seen.
