This is on the Karakoram Highway the famous road linking Taxila, next to Islamabad, to Kashgar in China. Built by both Chinese and Pakistanis, it is a strategic road giving Chinese an access to the Karachi port. From Islamabad it is a good 20 hours bus to the town of Gilgit.
