Photo via mmeiser2, Creative Commons Telegraph Pass is an out-and-back trail that steadily climbs up the south side of South Mountain. It’s a shorter hike that’s perfect for days when you don’t have a lot of time to spare, but still want a challenge. Along the way up to the top of the mountain, you’ll see Hohokam petroglyphs. At the end of the hike, Telegraph Pass intersects with Summit Road, the road that cuts through South Mountain Park, and the National Trail. Head left on National Trail for views from the National Trail lookout. Ambitious hikers can take the National Trail through to the Pyramid Trail for an intense, long loop back to the Telegraph Pass parking lot.
