If you aren’t yet familiar with the post war avant-garde CoBrA art movement (Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam were the centers of this phenomenon) prepare to be delighted at this fabulous museum near the Amsterdam Bos. These deceptively simple, some would say child-like, works are brilliantly colored, full of movement and nothing short of a revelation. CoBrA’s best known masters were probably Karel Appel, Asher Jorn and Corneille but my all time favorite is the French born Jacques Doucet. It’s no exaggeration to say you may end up obsessed..
