It’s a very small and short hike from the parking area to reach the rim of the crater in order to admire the turquoise pool inside the crater (note that it freezes in winter). You can continue along the path to reach the geothermal power plant that is right next to the crater, it’s interesting to observe and realize how the steam is harvested to power all of Iceland.
