The Montebello lakes are five different lakes that are a real wonder of Mother Nature. They are all united by underneath network of rivers nourished by the rainy season going from May to September. You should hire a guide that take you from one lake to the other while giving you pertinent information about their history. From Comitán, you take take a public colectivo that will get you directly to the entrance of the National Park which is 2h away for 4$. There are also tours from San Cristóbal that include a guided tour of the different lakes, a visit of the Chiflon waterfall and the transportation round trip.
