Roughly an hour’s drive out of Krakow and the scene of such barbaric atrocities during the Nazi occupation, Auschwitz-Birkenau now stands as a memorial to all who suffered and perished there. Visit the original Auschwitz (Auschwitz I) camp before moving onto the vast Birkenau (Auschwitz II) complex roughly 2km away.
