Lahual-Spiti is the hidden Shangari-la in Himachal Pradesh state of India, with rugged desert mountains and Tibetan monasteries. It is set in the spectacular Himalayan mountain ranges sandwiched between Tibet and Ladakh, with altitudes from 4200-6000m. Tibetan Buddhism is the dominant religion in the region. It is cut off to the rest of the world for more than five months every year due to the heavy snow falls.
