Everyone usually hears about the Golden Circle, Iceland’s tourist haven, the thing is, it is now quite impossible to escape the crowds of tourists. The Diamond Circle is an opportunity to escape some of the masses of tourists and see a different side of Iceland that only the north can offer like breathtaking canyons, mystic waterfalls, landscapes that look like Mars and spas where you can avoid (some) of the tourists. The Diamond Circle is best accessed from Akureyri, it is the nearest ‘big’ city to the sights and a good base to stock up, sleep or end your tour.
