Saga prefecture in Kyushu is typically skipped over by most tourists in favor of it's neighbors (Nagasaki, Fukuoka, Oita, Kumamoto). After living in Saga for almost 3 years and having zero couch surfers I can attest to the fact that it's not popular amongst tourists. Yet living there allowed me to find all the hidden gems that everyone has been missing on their Japanese adventures for years!! Not only is Saga centrally located making it easy to reach famous areas in surrounding prefectures in as little as 30 minutes, it has a bunch to see, do, and eat as well.
