Pretzels are believed to have originated in Italy around 610 AD invented by Christian monks resembling arms crossed in prayer and given as a reward to children who learned their prayers. It later came to Germany and were dubbed bretzels which would adorn Easter and Christmas celebrations for its trinitarian symbolism. There are many places around Munich to enjoy this bready goodness. Here are my top spots.
