What are the best places to visit in France aside from Paris?

How about Lyon?
Puit du fou is a brilliant show place. It’ll take you a day to visit.
I think lyon is a good idea

Provence and the French Riviera are beautiful (see my lists for recommendations).
Carcassonne is really charming. The pyranees mountain area is beautiful and less traveled as is the Basque country.
If you move by train Lyon, if you have a car the Champagne region, or the Loire with its fabulous castles.
A favourite of mine is Strasbourg and the Alsace Lorraine.
