Giacomina Kroll's question in Peru

Attraction / Outdoor

Hi everybody, I am thinking about going to South America for two weeks in may. I’ve never been and I think i would like to go see Machu Picchu but also a beach. I heard combining those two are kind of hard though... do any of you have a recommendation how I could combine some culture/hiking with beach? I’m also on a pretty low budget. Thank you!

Hey there! I’ve heard great things about Machu Picchu! Not sure if you are considering other countries, but I spent time in Santiago Chile and it had amazing hiking in the Andes and was only an hour or so from the beaches. And as a bonus, you drive through wine country on the way.

Lima is great beach city. Go to Asia about an hour South or Punta Hermosa. Insane sea food!
Thank you! Santiago de Chile really sounds great :)
I highly recommend a trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina. The culture is remarkable and the US dollar can still go a long way on red wine (malbec), entertainment, and mouth-watering steaks! Also, Uruguay has AMAZING beaches and is very affordable. Go see Iguazu Falls on the border of those 2 countries for a site that will blow your mind.
