Soaring above Lake Atitlan is San Pedro, a cloud forest-covered, verdant volcano that makes for a spectacular day trip during any visit to the Lake itself. The trail, which can be done without a guide, climbs through the cloudforest, past viewpoints and rope swing, to the craggy summit. From the top you can enjoy the splendour of the Lake itself, stretching off in the distance, as well as the surrounding landscapes. The hike will take approximately 2-4 hours, depending on your fitness level and how many photos you'll stop to take on the way up, and is of moderate difficulty.
