Zolotyye Vorota
By the time I'd reached Vladimir I'd felt like I'd seen all that was needed to be seen. Perhaps coming here was an anticlimax with its brash urbanised streets and lack of colour. The line of black Mazdas I'd been road tripping with skirted me past the Golden Gate which I later learned was the only preserved ancient Russian city gate. Inside is a museum displaying the history of the Mongol invasion during the 13th century.
