Ještěd Aerial Cableway
The journey up the Ještěd-Kozákov Ridge by aerial cableway displays the whole of Liberec before your eyes within minutes. The ascent takes you 400 metres in four minutes to just below the famous Ještěd Tower/Hotel itself. It was an eye-popping trip up and whilst I've been enchanted by such means of transport elsewhere, found this one to be a little like stepping back in time. Living it through the eyes of my 73-year-old mother and given the fact the tower was completed in '73, the number added to the timeless nature of the whole experience. The cableway practically connects the tower to the station at the base of the ridge at 595 metres. From Horní Hanychov tram stop you can follow signs through a wooded approach to the ticket office. Tickets (100 Kč one way, or 150 Kč return) are available during opening hours from 08.00-19.00 and ranks as being the oldest cableway in the country. I had no qualms about the safety and robustness of the capsule in contrast to how it cranks and groans on its ascent and descent before briskly grinding to a halt. Opening times: 8am - 6/7pm; 7 days a week (from 2pm on Mondays). Location: Horní Hanychov, 460 08 Liberec, The Czech Republic #views #photography #cablecar
