Wuzhen is one of the most famous watertowns throughout China affording a cultural insight of the emergence of the Grand Canal stretching all the way up to Beijing. Whilst the entrance is a hefty 150 renminbi, once inside you'll be rewarded with some of the most atmospheric environments on water throughout the country. Crowds take a while to disperse as soon as you pass through one of the entrances so taking things in your stride is the way to go. During my brief encounter I visited a love temple, watched canal boats idling under pedestrian stone bridges and caught glimpses of girls dressed in local garb for professional photo shoots on canal banks. #watertown #history #architecture #art #canals
