Racławice Panorama
The Racławice Panorama is a 360 degree painting of a famous late eighteen century battle scene between Poland and Russia. As a relatively new addition to Wrocław, it was imported from Lviv in 1980. The painting of Racławice Battle is somewhat special in the way it reflects a 3D imagery. Even the museum does well to enhance his artistry by the cylindrical exhibition hall and decoration leading up to the masterpiece. Coupled with special lighting and sound effects behind the canvas, the curators do well to help bring this work to life. It measures fifteen metres in height and spans 114 metres making it the only surviving panorama of its kind in the country. Few even exist in Europe. Jan Styka together with a co-creator Wojciech Kossak, and a team of eight other artists were responsible for its design. Nine months later it was completed in 1894.
