Living in china can be frustrating and I don’t always understand the culture but every time I go to a cultual performance like this I fall back in love with China. If you go to a Peking Opera make sure it’s at the Huguang Guild Hall. The theater is beautiful and historic (the Chinese Nationalist Party was founded here) and I basically had a private performance when I went there were so few people. There are explanations in English of the story lines.
