Summit Lake Lodge
Summit Lake Lodge is conveniently located about 2 hours from Anchorage and makes a great place to basecamp out of for a couple of days while you enjoy the nearby natural wonders on the Kenai Peninsula. Spend a day checking out Byron Glacier, Spencer Glacier, the Portage Valley or hiking on Turnagain Pass. The lodge also provides a fleet of canoes and kayaks to guests for free. There are great photo ops down on the dock with the yellow float plane too.
The lodge restaurant serves up big portions of classic Alaska dishes. The coconut crusted Gold Coast halibut preparation is to die for as are the stuffed ravioli appetizers. The fresh made dessert options include a decadent Almond Joy cheesecake. The fruits of the forest berry pie makes for a great dessert or breakfast option! They serve up ice cream by the scoop and great coffee at the cafe as well.
