John P Cable Grist Mill
The Smoky Mountains Natural History Association maintains the running of this mill to educate visitors of the Smokies on what life was like in the 1800s. The mill is operated between the months of April and October, but you can go see it at any time and there will be water in it no matter the time of year. However, I would suggest going when they're operating it! The mill is located on the historic farm by the Cable Mill Visitors Center. Stop by the visitors center to buy a souvenir, or to watch the elk that are known to congregate there (and they're not kidding about that - I saw more elk there than I could count). #history #outdoor #cadescove #smokymountains
