Wycliffe Well is the self-proclaimed UFO capital of Australia. By day, it is the alien paraphernalia-filled roadhouse on the Stuart Highway between the towns of Tennant Creek and Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. But by night, it is advertised to the best place in Australia to catch a UFO sighting. According to Wycliffe Well’s own brochure, if you stay up all night, you will be unlike not to spot a UFO. The alien-themed decorations here are so over the top, that they become interesting as a cultural reference. The main shop is covered with newspaper clippings ‘proving’ the various UFO sightings in the area. We didn’t stay up all night and did not encounter any UFO during our visit. But if you feel like having an X-Files moment in Australia’s Northern Territory – this is the place!
