Playa Maderas
Situated just 15 minutes from the partying town of San Juan Del Sur, this famous break at Playa Maderas has been the main hub for national surf competitions for years. The beach is sprinkled with an array of local restaurants, hostels, and surf shacks all catering to the surf and backpacking crowd. There are a few luxury boutique hotels up on the cliffs, but you’ll have to make the trek to check them out. The off-shore winds that blow in from Lake Nicaragua ensure surfers that can always find a swell. As this spot is no secret among the surfer community, the almost-always-crowded water will force any newcomers to sit back and enjoy a Toña—as patience is key to catching a wave here. #nicaragua #surf #surfspot
