Asakusa Shrine
Asakusa shrine is a Shinto shrine located next to Sensoji temple and was built in 1649 at the command of the shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu. It is the central point of the Sanja Matsuri, the largest Shinto festival in Tokyo, which takes place each year in the third weekend in May. If you’re visiting at another time of the year, you may be lucky enough to see a wedding, with the bride and groom in beautiful traditional Japanese dress. #tokyo #shrine #history
