Once a year Vaduz transforms from a conformist, orderly city to a fest of gastronomy, music and entertainment. It's commemorative of the Day of the Assumption and late Prince Franz Josef II, whose birthday proceeded it on 16th. By 10am a display of fireworks ignite the sky to one side of the castle. Tens of thousands descend on the major streets while marquees line squares facing music stages. Sadly, I didn't have the fortune of seeing the open speeches, among royalty, in the gardens of Vaduz castle. I did, however, spot the Prince later that day on the busy Landsstrasse running through the city.
