This backcountry lodge sits in one of the most beautiful areas I have ever seen. The thoughtfully laid out lodge is centered around a main timber frame masterpiece that was built with local spruce. The dozen or so cabins face out over the brackish lagoons towards Pederson Glacier and the surrounding high peaks. The lodge offers a variety of guided activities that are included with your stay. I highly recommend a full day kayak excursion to Aialik Glacier via Slate Island (condition dependent). You won’t get super close to the glacier for safety reasons, but munching down your sandwich and drinking hot tea while watching the glacier calve is from your bobbing kayak is a pretty special experience. The friendly lodge staff serves up three magnificent meals per day and they even have a bar with beer on tap, wine and Glacieritas! The lodge is reached by ~4 hour boat ride from Resurrection Bay in Seward. If you can’t afford the hefty price tag of the lodge experience there is also an area with a camping easement and a few cabins tucked away in other spots in the cove and maritime portion of Kenai Fjords National Park. #luxury #hotel #mountains #views
