Liberec Zoological Garden
Liberec Zoo, rated as being the oldest in Central Europe and home to the White Tiger and cubs merits a visit on any given afternoon with the family. For 100 Kč you get your bang for your buck and there is enough to keep you amused. Alas like most zoos, animals look somewhat torpid and sad.
The lemurs and pelicans seem to get the best deal having full reign of a small lake to ensconce themselves in. Some of these pelicans can also be sighted from the tram stop at Botanická-Zoo, which is two stops before Lidové Sady, outside the entrance to the zoo itself.
It is advisable to take a couple of hours to see everything and even recommend tacking on a visit to the Botanical Gardens in the vicinity.
Along the right flank of the zoo at the end of Masarykova street it's possible to see the elephants, and if you are lucky, giraffes without having to pay the entrance fee.
Staff are polite and helpful.
Opening times: 9am - 5pm; 7 days a week.
Location: Lidové sady 425/1, 460 01 Liberec, The Czech Republic
