Malbun
At an elevation of 1,600 metres, Malbun is a quaint little mountain settlement in the exclave of Triesenburg, Liechtenstein. With less than 100 permanent residents, you immediately sense the hushed aire on alighting a vehicle there. The village offers some shops with basic amenities for stocking up before tackling the higher ridges and peaks.
Year round, a cable car carries you to just over 2,000 metres at Sareis making for a great starting point for spending hikes.
Funnily enough in 1968 Switzerland accidentally invaded Liechtenstein by destroying a few chairs during a military operation. They later apologized for not knowing they propositioned their terrain.
